Many retail stores were forced to change their business practices as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Offering local pickup and local delivery are two examples of these changes. Many businesses have opened online stores and are now offering local delivery and pickup to customers in order to ensure that their customers are safe and can shop for what they need online rather than in-store.
Store owners can now offer local pickup and local delivery on their websites thanks to Shopify. A store owner can enable this functionality by changing their shipping settings in a few simple steps.

How to Enable Local Delivery in Shopify
Go to your Shopify Admin and click Settings and then on Shipping and delivery.

Find the Local delivery section and click Manage next to the locations you want to offer free delivery for.

Check the This location offers local delivery box to configure your settings.

You can choose whether you want to create a delivery zone based on postal codes, or based on a radius from your location (you can configure the distance).

Make your selection and configure your settings. If using postal codes, make sure you separate them with a comma when you enter them.
You can also set a minimum order price and a delivery cost. Shopify also allows for conditional pricing if you’d like that too.

When you are happy with your settings, click the Save button.
Congratulations, you’ve now set up Local Delivery for that location! 🎉

Turn your delivery orders into optimized routes you can share with your drivers

Once you begin receiving delivery orders, you will need to create delivery routes in order to get your products to your customers. This can take many hours a week planning for small businesses, and sometimes requires a full-time position for larger businesses!
EasyRoutes by Roundtrip eliminates all that wasted time so you can focus elsewhere in your business. You can create multiple delivery routes in just seconds!
EasyRoutes is integrated with Shopify’s backend, so your orders appear instantly in our app, and any updates you make, such as marking an order as delivered, gets updated in Shopify too!
Once you’ve created a route you can edit and rearrange your orders, or add last minutes orders to existing routes. Once you’re happy, schedule your route for all the latest drive times, and then share it with your drivers.
EasyRoutes uses a web-based link to share routes so there is no need to set up complicated driver apps.
